At Learning Allegro we offer three different weekly classes, each running monthly so you can join the fun at anytime. Precious Preludes introduces your baby to the world of music. Little ones will learn from watching peers and moms sing and play along to classic children's songs, nursery rhymes and finger plays. Creative Crescendos builds on our foundation of music but teaching toddlers music theory terms while increasing their song repertoire. If the whole family wants to join in the fun, then Tutti Time is the class for you. Younger siblings will learn from the older siblings and the whole family learns to enjoy the music together.

In each Learning Allegro class the goal is to teach families about music while providing a fun way for families to spend time together. Parents should come ready and willing to dance, play and sing along with their kids!

Prelude: An introductory movement to a piece of music.

This 30 minute class is designed as an introduction to the world of music. Parents and babies will sing, dance and play along to all the classic children's songs. Precious Preludes focuses on the interaction between parent and child. Classes will feature lullabies, classic children's songs, finger plays and rhymes. Rhymes and movement songs will build vocabulary and develop gross motor skills, while the more intimate lullabies and finger plays will help reinforce the bond between baby and parent.

This class will use a lot of repetition of classic songs to help babies learn and feel comfortable with the music. Repetition also helps parents feel comfortable continuing the music at home. Instruments, scarves, and other tools will be used to capture attention and develop a lifelong love of music!

Babies will be introduced to the beginning music theory concepts of loud vs. soft and fast vs. slow.

Creative Crescendos
2 to 4 years old

In our toddler group, we build onto our musical foundation by introducing more advanced music theory concepts. Rhythm, tempo, dynamics and styles of music are introduced. Through games, activities and, of course, playing music, children begin to learn music terminology. Children will leave class knowing the musical terms, presto, largo, forte and piano to name a few. In addition to learning music theory concepts, we will use songs and games to teach basic preschool readiness concepts such as colors, shapes and letters.

In the Creative Crescendos class we will continue to use classic children's songs from the Precious Preludes class but will also introduce new songs. Rhymes and finger plays will continue to develop vocabulary, counting skills, and phonemic awareness, the precursor to reading. The 45 minute weekly classes will teach children music theory in a way that is logical and fun!

In the Creative Crescendos class we also begin to foster individuality and build self-confidence in each student. Turn taking is introduced and each child is encouraged to set up and clean up his/her things. Parents are always encouraged to attend but, in this class, act in a supporting and encouraging role as your child finds his/her own inner musician. In order to encourage each child's independence and individuality, class size for Creative Crescendos is limited to 10.

Tutti Time
Family Music Circle

At Learning Allegro, we encourage families to enjoy music together. Tutti Time is a 45 minute class designed for all ages. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to dance, sing, and celebrate music with the kids. Tutti Time intentionally uses familiar songs and rhymes so that families can continue to share the joy of music with one another at home!
